High-load infrastructure for an online store
The in-house development team couldn’t keep up with the flow of tasks or the complexity of the platform. The WordPress + WooCommerce site was under heavy peak loads: marketing mailings brought in thousands of shoppers at once. There was no proper caching, no monitoring, and no staging server. The codebase was spaghetti spread across 40–50 plugins of varying vintage.
We started with a RetailCRM integration — the task the client originally came to us with. An intermediate API server with custom business logic sits between WooCommerce and the CRM: it calculates discounts, bonuses, gifts in the cart, and redemptions. We dug into the infrastructure, proposed improvements — and the client handed us the entire project.
We reconfigured the server from scratch: replaced Apache with Nginx, upgraded PHP, and rewrote the bottlenecks in the code. We moved orders to WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage, so they live in dedicated tables instead of the WordPress posts structure. We set up proper caching at every level.
We put the code under Git and deployed a staging server with an environment that mirrors production. We installed Grafana + Prometheus for real-time load monitoring and added Sentry for error tracking. Now we see the full picture of the platform’s health.
We maintain an ecosystem of integrations: MoySklad (a Russian inventory management system), RetailCRM, the client’s back office via API, and product feeds for VK, Yandex Market, and Google Shopping. We built several versions of the giveaway carousel, the key widget for marketing campaigns. We implemented a gift card system with a virtual balance in the customer account. We integrated a Telegram bot with the site’s promo codes. We connected payment acquirers and installment plan providers.
Before we started working together, the NIKIFILINI website was maintained by an in-house developer, but we lacked a systematic approach to its development and a team that could cover the full range of tasks. With Rupor, we got exactly that kind of arrangement — from design and WordPress development to SEO, technical optimization, and DDoS protection. The site’s reliability during peak loads became especially valuable to us. During seasonal sales, when traffic multiplies, the team kept the site running smoothly and was available 24 hours a day, responding promptly to any situation.
